El Norte: The Zandi Brothers Bring Upscale Spanish Dining to Mayfair
In the heart of Mayfair, El Norte stands as a vibrant testament to the culinary prowess and visionary spirit of its founders, Arian and Alberto Zandi. The dynamic duo, who were recently featured on the renowned Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2023, have not only brought the flavours of Spain to London but have also successfully curated a diverse gastronomic journey through their quadruple hospitality brands in the city.
Stepping into El Norte is like embarking on a sensory adventure that captures the essence of Spanish cuisine in an upscale and entertaining atmosphere. The twins, originally from Spain, have seamlessly blended their roots with the cosmopolitan energy of London, creating a dining experience that is both authentic and innovative.
Focusing on the food that we tried at El Norte, we went with the tapas-style offerings, each dish a masterpiece reflecting the passion and creativity of the founders. The Bombon de Pollo, a crispy chicken delight with roasted celeriac, set the tone for an evening of culinary indulgence. The Berenjenas Crujientes Con Miel Y Feta which includes fried aubergine with feta and honey was a delectable treat. The Brioche De Tartar De Atún, a tuna tartare accompanied by brioche and tasty umami mayo, showcased the diverse flavours synonymous with Spanish cuisine and beyond.
For mains, the Hamburguesa De Wagyu stole the spotlight – a Wagyu burger adorned with foie gras, goat cheese, and caramelised onion, served alongside the delicious Patatas Panaderas, Spanish oven-baked potatoes. The Pollo a la Trufa, a roasted chicken breast with truffle sauce and roasted cabbage, demonstrated a perfect fusion of traditional Spanish ingredients with modern culinary finesse.
The cocktail selection at El Norte is a testament to the twins’ dedication to offering a rich and varied drinking experience. From classic concoctions to innovative blends, each sip was a symphony of flavors that complemented the diverse menu. We particularly loved their Chamomile Mai Tai which is a Rum infused with Chamomile and honey.
To end our culinary journey we shared the Hot Coulant of White Chocolate & Pistachio – a dessert masterpiece that literally left us speechless. The combination of warm white chocolate and pistachio was a sweet symphony that lingered on the palate, offering a fitting finale to an exceptional meal.
